What happens next

  1. Email the request to the Information Officer (the City Manager) at citymanager@buffalocity.gov.za, or fax it to 043 722 6126. Keep proof that you sent it.
  2. BCMM must decide within 30 days (PAIA section 25), and must tell you about any access fee before preparing the records.
  3. No answer within 30 days counts as a refusal (section 27). You can then lodge an internal appeal within 60 days (sections 74 and 75).
  4. After that, you can complain to the Information Regulator: PAIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za, or POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za for your own records.
  5. BCMM’s official Form 2 is in Schedule 3 of its PAIA manual. Your request contains the same particulars. If BCMM asks for the form itself, copy these details onto it. BCMM PAIA manual (PDF)
